Axos360
San Diego Full Body MRI Scan: Early Detection for Better Health
OUR APPROACH
AXOS 360
Axos 360 is San Diego's premier full-body MRI screening program offering a well-rounded, comprehensive whole body MRI screening that combines efficiency and thoroughness.
Nearly every organ in the body is best screened by MRI, therefore, we scan the entire head, neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis. We take dedicated images of the brain, and optionally the brain vessels and entire spine. Also, as an option we utilize robust analytical techniques from Cortechs Labs to measure the volume of nearly 100 regions of the brain.
The only exceptions are the lungs and heart which are best imaged by CT, therefore, we offer a low-dose chest CT to exclude pulmunary malignancy and coronary artery calcium scoring for heart health.
We offer three different packages based on the level of analysis you wish to achieve.
We offer two levels of brain imaging:
Basic - Brain imaging includes the images acquired from the whole body MRI.
Advanced - Brain imaging includes dedicated images of the brain, brain MRA (MR Angiogram) and Cortechs Neuroquant analysis.
What does the Axos360 Full Body Scan detect?
Our comprehensive screening analyzes major organs for tumors, inflammation, and abnormalities:
Head & Neck: Brain aneurysms, Tumors, and Sinus issues.
Abdomen: Liver (fatty liver/cirrhosis), Pancreas (cysts/tumors), Kidneys (cysts/masses), Gallbladder (stones), and Spleen.
Pelvis: Ovaries/Uterus (women), Prostate (men), and Bladder.
Spine (Neuro and Plus Package): Herniated discs, Spinal cord compression, and Degeneration.
- Chest (Plus Package): Lungs, Heart, Coronary Artery Calcification.

Why Choose Axos360?
Hospital-Grade Technology, Local Convenience Unlike boutique "mall" or "big box" scanning centers, Axos Imaging is a full-service diagnostic radiology center.
-
Higher Field Strength: We use high-field 3T magnet technology for crisp diagnostic clarity.
-
Local, Board-Certified Radiologists: Your health is too important to be outsourced to a massive, out-of-state reading queue. Every Axos360 scan is interpreted by our dedicated, board-certified radiologists who live and work right here in San Diego.
-
No Middlemen or Markups: Many national brands don’t actually own their MRI machines; they act as middlemen, renting time at local facilities and marking up the price. At Axos, you are booking directly with the imaging center that owns and operates the technology. This is how we keep our packages starting at just $1,400.
-
True Diagnostic Center: We are not a boutique pop-up clinic in a strip mall. Axos Imaging is a fully accredited, hospital-grade diagnostic facility trusted daily by San Diego’s top orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, and oncologists.
-
No Radiation: Our MRI scans use magnetic fields, not X-rays, making them 100% radiation-free and safe for proactive annual screening. If you select the 360 Plus package you will also obtain a low-dose chest CT which utilizes minimal radiation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a full body MRI safe?
Yes. Unlike CT scans which use radiation, MRI uses radio waves and magnets. It is completely safe and radiation-free, making it ideal for elective annual health check-ups. If you select the 360 Plus package you will also obtain a low-dose chest CT which utilizes minimal radiation.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. Axos360 is an elective wellness screening. You can self-refer and book an appointment directly with us.
Does insurance cover full body scans?
Generally, insurance covers diagnostic imaging when you have symptoms. Because full body scans are "preventative" or "elective," they are typically not covered by insurance. However, we accept HSA/FSA cards and offer financing.
What Payment Plans are available?
Flexible payment options are available through Affirm and are subject to an eligibility check. Affirm utilizes these lending partners: affirm.com/lenders.
Do you require a Subscription or Sign-up?
While we do recommend regular interval screening we do not require or push 'sign-ups' or subscription packages upon our patients as some of our competitors do. Axos360 is a one-time visit and fee.
Is there a difference between a Full Body MRI and a Whole Body MRI?
No, these terms are used interchangeably in the medical field. Whether your doctor recommends a "whole body scan" or a "full body MRI," the Axos360 package provides the exact same comprehensive, head-to-pelvis screening. Both terms refer to our proactive imaging process used to detect cancer, tumors, and inflammation early.
How should I prepare for my MRI appointment?
Preparation is simple. We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing like a cotton t-shirt and sweatpants without metal zippers or buttons. Please leave jewelry, watches, and hairpins at home, as metal can interfere with the magnetic field. You can usually eat and drink normally before your exam unless your specific scan requires fasting (we will notify you in advance if this is the case).
How long does it take?
Our standard scan takes just 45 minutes, while our comprehensive Neuro and Plus packages take 60–70 minutes.
What is the difference between 1.5T and 3T MRI?
The "T" stands for Tesla, the unit of measurement for the magnet's strength. Our Escondido location features a 3T scanner, which is twice as powerful as the standard 1.5T. This allows your doctor to see ultra-fine details in nerve tissues, joints, and the brain that might be missed on lower-strength machines.
Why do you use a CT scan for the lungs instead of MRI?
Many "pure MRI" clinics gloss over a critical fact: MRI struggles to see small lung nodules due to air and motion in the chest. We use a low-dose CT scan for the lungs because it is the undisputed medical gold standard, ensuring we don't miss what an MRI might.
"Very nice and helpful personnel. We were seen almost as soon as we came in for our appointment. I will recommend Axos to my friends."
